The Passion
(The Art of Mutual Orgasm)
"The Passion" was first conceived in 1995. Fresh from a long marriage
in the twilight zone that was a desert love-wise; I was seeking to revive my mind, soul, body, and creativity as an artist. I'd heard people say, if an experience was really special, they wished they could bottle it. I thought what if I could capture an orgasm as a visual image?
It wasn't until the summer of 1997, when I met a man for whom I felt a
great passion. We became lovers. When I asked if he would be willing to let me preserve this feeling on canvas, he was delighted. We would notice when we made love which body parts were touching the bed…. I lived in a quiet neighborhood in Virginia on a ½ acre lot with lots of trees and 3 outbuildings. I would have a prepared canvas on the floor of my outbuilding and two buckets of paint of the right consistency. We would put on robes and relocate to the outbuilding, where we painted each other where needed, lay down on the canvas, and climaxed with our mutual orgasm.
We discovered there were only 7 positions that made sense to
document in that way, so the last painting is about parting. Each of the 4' x 6' paintings were choreographed and color schemed: portraying the position, rhythm, and movement of a mutual orgasm. I realized the project had a life of its own that lasted an infinite time. The viewer is left to fantasize on the images like sensual Zen Rorschach Inkblots. |
