Carol Jean Omelian was born into a military family providing the multicultural influence of living
and traveling in Europe, Japan, and the United States. Her first distinguishing event as an artist
came when as only a teenager her art was accepted for the Kaufmann exhibit in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania.

Omelian attended three universities studying under a variety of artist. She earned her BS in Art
Education and in Mathematics. While teaching in Virginia and New York City she used visual
learning skills to develop an integrated art/math program. She presented this program to the
Tidewater Council of Mathematics and the Office of the Superintendent of Manhattan High
Schools. Omelian also served on the Fine Arts Curriculum Management Committee for the city
of Portsmouth, Virginia. She won awards in group and solo shows across the Eastern United
States. Her work has been displayed at local art festivals, banks, libraries, the Hampton Art
Museum, The Virginia Beach Museum of the Arts, and the Montserrat Gallery in New York City.

Omelian revived her personal art work by showing in Paris and by unveiling a new form of art
expression on January 8, 2000 at the Montserrat Gallery, New York City. "...One of the Gallery's
most sensational discoveries were the paintings of the Virginia artist Carol Jean Omelian, a.k.a.
C.J. Omelian, who unveiled a powerful new series 'The Passion' ..." -Wilson Wong, Gallery &
Studio
. Omelian's experience with the art show influenced her decision to move to New York
City.

Omelian briefly moved to Southern California and recently to Colorado - "life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness." She is looking forward to continuing her new series "The Glory" and
creating new artworks in her new environment.
